Products description
The Nervous Return have dedicated themselves to the American punk era of the 70s and mix punk, wave, pop and some reggae with glam rock on their debut Headshots. The quartet from southern California, which actually sounds like New York, relies entirely on the retro track and is based exclusively on old values, including provocative lyrics. The young fire of punk, which arose in New York 30 years earlier and was co-founded by Iggy Pop, back then with the Stooges, or the glam rock bangers New York Dolls, but ultimately has to fail in the present day. The charming disorientation of the past, which was pregnant with outbreaks, has long since given way to a clear commercial field in which albums like Headshots only satisfy sentimental claims. What sounded exuberant, perverse and rampant three decades ago now seems rather boring to exhausting. The Nervous Return simply lacks the anger to do something different. However, it is precisely this, namely the will to change everything, that makes the founders of that scene what it is. Even if the headshots don't come to fruition, the whole thing isn't a total failure, the four at least do everything right within their self-imposed limits. Upgradable.
