Far removed from hip styles and trends, THE ANIMEN pack scratchy soul, 60s pop appeal and rock into groovy vintage sounds. Their brilliant debut “Hi!” surprised many as an import in 2014 and garnered great acclaim.

In order to categorize them, many of these band comparisons were conjured out of a journalist’s creative mind on their debut. The retro drawer was opened wide and labeled with soul, 60’s rock, garage rock or scratchy country vibes. But since retro is the hot shit and everyone is going full throttle back to the future, this is not always a sign of originality. But THE ANIMEN escape the accusation with ease.
