Blow
Blow
On Blow, Foetus presents remixed versions of all the songs from his grandiose Flow album. The remixers include Foetus’ industrial and no wave companions, who seem to be primarily interested in making Mr. Thirlwell’s aggressive, oppressive, psychotic jazz industrial punk even more aggressive, oppressive and psychotic. At times, they manage to do this excellently: Franz Treichler from the “Young Gods” delivers an underground, deep-frozen “Need Machine” version without a beat: Foetus post mortem. Charlie Clouser from NIN gives “Quick Fix” a well-fitting coating of metal bombast with conventional but impressively dense sequencing. Thirlwell also invited young DJs and electronica tinkerers to the mixing desk. Amon Tobin and Pan Sonic, for example, tinker with overdriven drum samples.
