Gift (2024)
The difficult second album, but the band avoids the pitfalls of overly high expectations and delivers with aplomb. An uncompromising, rough, loud album that once again sits somewhere between punk and grunge, between 90s alternative and garage fuzz with plenty of pop appeal, glam and glitter. An album that you can hear the experience of 3 years on the road. The songs are sometimes only 90 seconds and hardly ever longer than 3:30 minutes and yet they have grown musically and lyrically. Political messages meet self-irony, self-doubt and self-confidence. 24/7 DIVA HEAVEN wear their hearts on their sleeves and deliver a soundtrack that fits these uncertain times and doesn’t settle for platitudes. Perhaps these times call for bands like this!
“GIFT” is varied, hard and yet it remains catchy without sounding the least bit less angry. The calm and catchy “Crown Of Creation”, a duet with Arnim Teutoburg-Weiß (Beatsteaks) in “These Days” or straight in the face with “Rat Race” or “Face Down” – the quality and versatility of the band is impressive. Everything that was already in the offing on their debut is condensed here. Far more than the sum of the individual parts, recognizable, unique, stylistically confident and they seem to continue to hit the right nerve.
